My 2012 (Part II)

As i said in my previous post, I’ll be blogging about my 2012 in parts… I’m a bit late on this one, but anyway… I’ll continue…

The second most important thing that I did in 2012 (actually it should be the first most important thing) is that I learnt how to drive!

I had always loved cycling around the town and so I was eagerly waiting for the day when I could finally start driving  fearlessly. In my summer vacations in May-June, my dad completely repaired my mom’s scooterette, Bajaj Spirit and I had again started driving it… I didn’t have any issues with the balancing part of driving… my main problems where that I couldn’t put it on its main stand and I couldn’t kick-start it (its start button didn’t work). After almost one year I finally learnt how to put the bike on the stand… it was a great achievement for me!

After learning that, my dad decided that I should get myself enrolled at a car driving school. So in my Diwali Vacations, I did get myself enrolled at one driving school in my city… I did learn a lot about driving a car, but i didn’t get time to go and give the RTO driving test. here was almost a gap of 3 weeks in my  practice and then I kinda forgot about the techniques in driving a car… So in the Christmas vacation, I practiced a lot on my dad’s car. I was scared to hell while doing so as our car is new… we bought it in 2012 itself . It’s a Hyundai i10 and I totally love my car and I didn’t wanna damage it with my stupid driving!

Finally on 1st January, 2013 I gave my driving test. I wasn’t really confident that I would pass, but luckily it all went well and now I have the license to drive anywhere in India on my bike as well as my car.

This was really one of the great things that I did in 2012.

  1. Congrats on getting your license! That’s a great way to start your year. That sounds really convenient to be able to go around either by bike or by car now 🙂 I wish I could bike to places in my city, but things are so spread out with highways everywhere. I pretty much have to drive everywhere =/

  2. congrats on your license! so good for you. as for me? i chickened out in trying to drive. i don’t know. it’s just crazy here. people don’t follow the rules and when your car got hit some will pretend as if nothing happen or it’s gonna be a total inconvenience to everyone. but we’ll see when we finally migrated in dc.

  3. Congratulations on passing the test! I still don’t have my license and I’m almost 20. I regret not getting it earlier when I had the time to practice and access to a car. 2013 sounds like it’s off to a great start for you! What’s next?

  4. Congrats on getting your license! I just recently got mine renewed, but I remember when I first started I hated it and was just dreadful. I think I was also kind of scared of driving – not necessarily scared of my driving but the other cars around me. But I eventually just got over it. And I passed my test, just barely, haha. Now I just need to buy my own car. 😛

  5. Congratulations on getting your license. I really wanna have one badly but I’m too young. Sometimes, I would even think of asking a professional to make a fake one. XD

  8. We talked about this a little on Twitter! I wish I could drive. Congratulations on getting your licence. If it were me it would definitely be a highlight of my year 🙂 I’m still keen on driving a motorbike but in Australia the roads are much more dangerous than in Asia so I’m doubtful I’ll learn to drive a motorbike until I’m much older. I have driven a car and I had my licence for a while but I couldn’t get my full licence… not enough time, was too busy to learn… but the good thing is I don’t need a car very much so I’m not missing out on anything. xD
